People often ask: what can one person do about Climate Change and ecosystem collapse? I find that it helps me mentally and emotionally to consciously and regularly let go of that which is out of my control and focus on what I can do. Baby steps.
My simple mantra is this: Soil. Sun. Sacred.
SOIL: life sequesters carbon. Creating more life in soil is a great place to begin.
SUN: The sun must become our primary source of energy.
And SACRED: Earth means honor nature--shop less, love more. Appreciate the beauty of the natural world. Extend a kind and gentle energy out into the world.
So what can one person do? Make compost, support ecological agriculture, save energy, cook with a solar oven. Love Earth more than stuff. Be kind. Create tiny habitats. Above all appreciate and support the community of life in how you live.
Will all of this “solve” the climate crisis? It may or it may not… odds are long, honestly. A better question might be: how do we want to live into this most sacred time?
We may be surprised how much we can accomplish together and how joyful it can be.
